About Copycense

History

Copycense is an online publication that provides insight, commentary, and scholarship on copyright, licensing, intellectual property, and digital media.

Copycense originated in February 2004 as the law archive of SNTReport.com, a now-defunct online publication that reported on business and personal use of online collaboration tools.

In fall 2005, SNTReport.com was renamed OpenWyre. OpenWyre’s editors broadened its reporting to include reporting on intellectual property issues; eventually, intellectual property coverage began to dominate the publication.

In summer 2006, OpenWyre’s editors decided to devote exclusive coverage and resources to contemporary intellectual property issues in a separate publication. This decision led to Copycense’s debut in August 2005.
